It can\naffect any age group and can greatly affect the sufferers&#039; daily lives and even endanger their lives.\nOsteosynthesis is a surgical method for the repair of hip fractures that facilitates the precise alignment\nand stabilization of bone fractures in order to allow for complete and effective healing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hip fractures result from a break at the proximal end of the femur near the hip joint, and can be\nclassified into three types: intracapsular (subcapital), pertrochanteric and subtrochanteric fractures.\nThese injuries are particularly common in the elderly due to falls and osteoporosis, but this does not\nmean that younger people are immune, especially if they have suffered a high impact trauma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Causes and risk factors for hip fractures<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The main cause of hip fractures in older people is osteoporosis, as reduced bone density makes bones\nmore fragile. Other risk factors include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Age-related factors such as less balance, vision and muscle strength, which increase the likelihood of\nfalls.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Factors present in the environment, such as slippery floors, poor lighting and obstacles that contribute\nto falls.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Lack of calcium, vitamin D or other elements important for bone health.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medical conditions such as neurological and endocrine disorders that affect bone density and balance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Symptoms of hip fractures<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The clinical picture of a hip fracture usually includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Intense pain in the hip or groin that worsens with movement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inability to move immediately after a fall.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>External rotation and shortening of the affected leg.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Swelling\/haematoma and tenderness around the hip area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The diagnosis of a hip fracture is generally confirmed by imaging examinations, initially with X-rays. The choice of technique depends on the type of\nfracture and the overall health of the patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Internal fixation. Screws, plates or nails are used to hold the bone fragments together. For hip\nfractures, this may include intramedullary nails (inserted into the bone marrow) and seldom special\nscrews and plates,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>rarely external fixation. Rods are placed into the broken bone through the skin and then attached to a\nfixation structure outside the body. This method is less commonly used for hip fractures, but can be\nused in cases where internal fixation is not possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Benefits of osteosynthesis<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hip fracture osteosynthesis offers several advantages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Quick mobilization of the patient. Osteosynthesis generally allows for rapid mobilisation and allows for\nweight-bearing of the limb, which is particularly important in elderly patients in order to prevent\npotential complications from prolonged immobilisation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Faster healing. Precise alignment and fixation facilitate faster and more efficient healing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Less risk of complications such as non-reunion of the fracture (pseudarthrosis) or post-operative\ninfections.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How is hip fracture prevented?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Preventing the chance of a fall with: home modifications, regular vision and hearing tests and balance\nexercises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthening bone health, with proper nutrition and adequate calcium and vitamin D intake, regular\nphysical activity, avoiding smoking and alcohol.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regular health screenings, for osteoporosis and other underlying conditions that may increase the risk\nof fracture.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Osteosynthesis plays a key role in the treatment of hip fractures, significantly affecting patients&#039;\nrecovery and mobility. In addition, by taking various measures such as modifying the environment to\navoid falls and regular physical exercise to enhance bone health, especially for high-risk groups,\nfractures can be
